What is Internet Explorer history?
As you surf the Internet, Internet Explorer stores information about the web sites you visited, information you entered on web sites, etc. Usually, it is helpful to store this information as it can improve your web browsing speed, helps to automatically suggest information you have typed before, so you don't have to type it again, etc. But it can also seriously compromise your security and privacy, as anyone who has access to your computer can see what web sites you visited and what information you entered on web pages. Internet Explorer stores the following Internet history tracks:
List of web sites you have visited (web addresses from the Address bar)
Form AutoComplete data (Saved form data) - information that you've entered on web sites
Search history
Temporary Internet files
Cookies
Passwords
Index.dat files
You can erase Internet Explorer history manually or using special software.
Addresses bar history (visited web sites history)
Address bar, also known as the "Location bar", is a text box used to enter a web site address in a browser. Internet Explorer stores a list of web sites you have visited (web addresses from the Address bar) and anyone who has access to your computer and starts to type in the address bar will get a drop down url list with the web sites you've visited. Internet Explorer users can view the address bar history by clicking the down arrow on the far right side of the text box. To keep the pages you have recently visited or searched for private you can erase address bar history.
You can erase visited sites history manually or using special history eraser software:

AutoComplete helps you complete forms by suggesting possible matches - you can simply press the down arrow key and select the text without finishing typing.
While AutoComplete feature may be helpful for some things, it can also seriously compromise your security and privacy, as anyone who has access to your computer can see what web sites you visited and what information you entered on web pages. Also various malicious software can use AutoComplete data to steal your personal information such as your name, e-mail address, credit card information and/or retrieve web sites passwords stored as autocomplete data.
